New Patterson Interview…

DBT, Patterson Hood - No Comments » - Posted on June, 25 at 9:32 am

One of my favorite people and 3 DD forum member Lurleen McQueen recently had an opportunity to interview Patterson:

In a recent e-mail to fans, you wrote, “This has been my favorite tour of the last twenty five years or so…” Why?

PH: [I’m] really enjoying playing the new songs and the energy level they bring to the show. [I] really love how the band is all playing together and the whole shape of things right now. I think the bar is raised higher than ever and our worst show all year so far would be a top shelf show any other year (at least from my perspective).

It’s cool that we have two new albums so as the tour progresses, we are slowly working up and working in some of the newer songs, which keeps the tour fresh to us well into next year. The new album is called Go-Go Boots and some of my favorite stuff is on that one.

To read the complete interview head over to the very fine and very liberal Alabama Ass Whuppin blogspot(we really like that very liberal part!)

And Now Here’s Something We Hope You Really Like…

DBT played their second show with Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers in Omaha last night. Head over to our message board for our very own Uncle Rickey’s review of DBT’s opening set. And don’t forget about the Tom Petty tour index where you’ll find killer pictures like the one above and more about the tour as it moves on. Notice the Hammond B3 Jay is now playing? I can’t wait to hear what that sounds like. DBT’s next show on the Tom Petty tour will be on the Indiana night of July 1oth at the shed formerly known as Deer Creek.

Zip City is included on The Artists Den Season 2 album. Judging from the footage the live performance looks like it’s from last April’s Booker T And The DBT’s show at The Ogden Museum Of Southern Art in New Orleans. Click here to buy and also to sample tracks.

DBT will play their first show on the Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers tour tomorrow. If you are lucky enough to hit one of these shows please be sure to give us the play by play not only for DBT but also for the Tom Petty part over on our message board. How many people were inside for DBT’s opening set? Was it worth the money and did Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers play your favorite song? If you are really trying to keep score from home or on the fence about buying that expensive ass ticket to the show you might want to check out the Tom Petty site. There is a pretty cool recap section with setlists and also some mention of Joe Cocker’s opening slots over the first few dates of the tour. Hopefully will see the same sort of love for DBT.

Happy Fathers Day…

DBT - No Comments » - Posted on June, 20 at 8:05 am

What we’re gonna do right now is go back in time.Way back before threedimesdown, way back when ninebullets was just a song, way back before even The Dirty South. We are gonna go back to a very hot day. Two days before the release of Decoration Day. We’re gonna go back to Bonnaroo. Bonnaroo 2003 that is. A day which also happened to be father’s day.On this day which was my first father’s day on the planet as a father I saw DBT play one of their most triumphant sets ever. This show also just happened to contain timeless father’s day advice from Patterson which is enclosed below in black for your convenience. And as I type this I realize these words from Patterson before Outfit at Bonnaroo 2003 could be the male equivalent but not really of that timeless Shirley Caesar classic No Charge:

Don’t forget to call your daddy. It’s fathers day you know.Call him up and say daddy I’m all fucked up and I’m at Bonnaro and  I love you!

So if you are lucky enough to have the old man around today wherever you are make sure you let him know how much you love him even if you happen to find yourself all fucked up standing under a tent getting your balls rocked off along with ten thousand hippies. Listen to the show yourself right now on our mp3 player. If you want to skip ahead to Patterson’s comment’s above click on track 7.You can also download my recording from Bonnaroo 2003 from the internet archive. Hope all the dads out there have a great one today!

Webisode 6:Santa Fe…

DBT, Webisodes - No Comments » - Posted on June, 18 at 8:23 am

Santa Fe is the 7th and most recent webisode from The Big To-Do and it’s out today on the YouTube. Like the previous webisodes most if not all of the performance footage is from the Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville. If you look real hard you can see some of the regulars from our message board front and center in Cooleyville. Freaks! And I mean that as a compliment.
