Christmas Is Over And New Years Is Soon…

DBT December 29th, 2011

Pretty much any year when DBT gets to play the 9:30 Club five times rules. Any fan of the rock show knows that the 9:30 Club has certainly been a special place for DBT over the years. In 2009 Patterson was sick and Cooley stepped up to lead the band through two of the most unique rock shows ever. There was that barn burner of a rock show there in 2004 which could be my favorite show ever at the 9:30 Club or maybe it was that rare full length assault in the Summer of 2006 when DBT was mostly opening for The Black Crowes or maybe it was the second show from February of this year where they closed with Lookout Mountain. Going back to the night before Thanksgiving 2003 the 9:30 Club was also the site of bassist Earl Hick’s last show in the U.S. and tonight as DBT takes the stage with David Barbe filling in on bass it will mark the bridge towards a new era for DBT. With Lucero tonight,J. Roddy Walston And The Motherfucking Business Friday, and Alabama Shakes and Booker T. on NYE this should be a run for the ages. Keep your eyes posted here and our message board for updates over the New Year’s run. Check out these videos shot by the 3DD crew at the 9:30 Club earlier this year. Especially Mercy Buckets which gets my vote for a song that would be perfect at midnight on NYE.See y’all at the rock show.
