4 Years Ago Tonight…

DBT, Jason Isbell - No Comments » - Posted on April, 29 at 11:19 am

Four years ago tonight after a fine opening set by The Drams(where they covered I Am The Cosmos) DBT played a monster set at Stubb’s. Jason came out solo to start the encore and dropped Dress Blues onto these ears and eyes for the first time. I went from full on rock show mode to well lets just say the very opposite of that in a matter of a few seconds. It seems like this was way longer than four years ago and a much different time. This is one powerful song that maybe means more now than it did back then when that other fucker was still in the white house. As the song ended I found myself thinking we can all go home now.How in the hell can anything follow this? Patterson came out and said “somebody had to say it” and say it Jason did in Austin,Texas. Point taken. Dress Blues was followed in the encore by The Living Bubba and I didn’t think anything could have followed and worked but damn if it didn’t. After that we got Zip City and Let There Be Rock and of course People Who Died. With some retrospection this was pretty much one of the best encores I’ve ever seen from DBT. The recording I made from the audience is available for streaming right now on our mp3 player and the Dress Blues clip is really worth watching if you haven’t seen it or seen it in awhile. The entire show was filmed and multi-tracked. If DBT ever decides to release a live record/DVD or an archive series type of thing this one should be a contender.

DBT - No Comments » - Posted on April, 27 at 7:47 am

The truckers will be on Tuesday’s edition of  Later…With Jools Holland. Also appearing on that same show are  Gorillaz including Mick Jones and Paul Simonon. You can only imagine how psyched everyone in the band is about that. If you are in the UK drop us a line about the show over on our message board. Later…can also be seen in the U.S. on Ovation but sometimes those broadcasts edit out certain performers or songs.

The Righteous Path…

DBT, Mike Cooley, Patterson Hood - No Comments » - Posted on April, 25 at 12:25 pm

On The off chance that you don’t subscribe to Teamster Magazine there is a new interview with Patterson and Cooley where they discuss their union roots and not forgetting where they came from:

A lot of your music deals with issues that working families are also dealing with. Why is that?

Patterson Hood: We’re very much a working-class band. I was nearly 40 before I ever crossed over the poverty line. Worked multiple shitty jobs to support myself and played nights, weekends, whenever I could. I finally quit my job and hit the road full time but nearly starved and was once homeless for a few months. I got lucky and now make a decent living for doing what I love, but I still have to grapple with health insurance issues and a very erratic pay schedule. We mostly all have kids now so there’s a lot more weight and responsibility along with what we do.

Latest Update On Big To-Do Vinyl Problems…

DBT - No Comments » - Posted on April, 24 at 11:41 am

Concerning Vinyl Defects (an update):
YES, we are still working on replacing the defective vinyl copies.
Thanks for your patience. Believe me, we are very eager to get this
past us.
As far as the time frame,
We just approved the new test pressing this week.
This time, we brought in extra ears, including some of the earliest
people to complain about the issue.
Everyone has signed off on the new one (it sounds great).
Now it is at the manufacturer, so it’s kinda out of our hands as to
how long it will take, but hopefully they will get it done ASAP.

As for what to expect, we will (as far as I know) replacement discs in
plain sleeve so you can replace the copy in your cover.
You’ll get to keep the defective one as a souvenir.

Thanks for the concern someone mentioned about it costing us.
Yes it is, as we approved the defective one so we’re eating a lot of
the cost, but our main concern is making it right to our supporters.
We have been cut some slack along the way by the other involved
parties and we certainly appreciate their help.
ATO has been super supportive and helpful. (THANKS!)

Now we’re hopefully in the homestretch in putting all of this behind
us so we can get on to better things (like Rock Shows).

Thanks again for the patience and Thanks for supporting vinyl and DBT.
Long Live Rock!
