Can't imagine him taking 18 months off after finally hitting it big and gaining all of this momentum. Seems like an incnceivable act, really. I know he has toured relentlessly the last few years and has a child now...a few months, I get it. A year and a half ??rlipps wrote:After the Grammy nominations, I think he said in an interview he had planned to take off 18 months, but that he'd proabably have to go back on tour to capitalize on the momentum.Zip Up to Michigan wrote:Awesome. Maybe additional dates to couple with the appearance? Hoping I don't have to see him in an arena next time he is around...rlipps wrote:Sturgill gonna be on SNL this weekend

The music to Keep it Between the Lines has a serious stream of Hard to Handle running through it

I have not had the chance to see him with the horn section yet, I really liked it on SNL, sounded great. He really needs to lay off abusing his guitars though, damn man.

I would have liked that album a hell of a lot more if it would have had the lightning-in-a-bottle of those SNL performances. Man alive.

The SNL performance is one for the ages. In Call to Arms, Sturgill and the band slowly come to the realization that they are slaughtering it and they begin to smile. Their movements become more confident and they clearly are inspired and feeding off each other. By the time the last trumpet solo is under way they own it. Must be a special feeling. Wow.

Re: Sturgill Simpson Thread
I'm seeing Sturgill everywhere since the SNL performance. All over my FB feed, on other boards where country music is typically not talked about, I even saw a brand new copy of Sailor's Guide... on my boss's desk the other day. I guess breakthrough performances are still a thing.

with those tour dates for late September-early October I would say it's highly likely he'll be playing HSBF
