RIP George Jones
Don't hurt people, and don't take their stuff.
He Stopped Loving Her Today - RIP George Jones
He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today
Not forever, just for now.

LBRod beat me by a minute. But my post had touching lyrics.
If one of the mods wants to kill my thread, I'm cool with it.
Not forever, just for now.

They could dedicate the entire board for all I care.

You posted that in the Richie Havens thread, but it's fitting for this one also. The golden era of country is dying off quick.

Superlatives are almost always exaggerations, but in George Jones' case, they're understatements. That's because Jones was America's quintessential country singer -- he was the greatest country singer who ever lived and the greatest we'll ever see.

RIP George. I think I can safely say he was the greatest singer I've ever seen in person.

I was gonna start a thread with the same title.
I guess I could just to see if Zip's head explodes.
And while I got a chuckle out of that, It's still a sad day.

Re: RIP George Jones
I dedicate Women Without Whiskey to George. Seems fitting.
Can you tell me how to tell when I've had enough?
Re: RIP George Jones
He was still playing shows at the age of 81. He had to cancel a couple recently when his health took a turn.

Re: RIP George Jones
I am saddened to hear that George Jones passed away.
He was a legend and one of the true classic country musician`s.
Back in the early 70`s my mom worked at a local country radio station and in the same building was a soul station ....
anyways she would always get ticket`s to all of the show`s that came to town and it would include back stage passes as well....
and most of the time she would take me with her...it was a trip as I was only about 12 when I had my first backstage experience at a country show,...
by the age of 15 I had seen many show`s and met or at least saw the star`s back stage.
I would always end up talking to them as most of the time they would come to me and say who is this little young lady ....lol.....
I would turn red and let my mom do most of the talking ,....I was really really shy . I remember meeting
George and Tammy , and they both had a strong country accent ,George had such small hand`s and Tammy was so so tiny
and they both smelled of liquor....I mean it was very strong smelling but they were really super nice and they put on one heck of a show.
I am thankful to have that memory.
R.I.P George , thank you for the music....
I bet your singing duet`s with Tammy again.

I'm sure many here have seen this but for those that have not, be sure to check it out before the Grand Ol' Opry folks pull it from YouTube again. By the way, be sure to grab a hankie, you're going to need it.
