I love this album. I mentioned that not so long ago on the Facebooks and someone proceeded to go on and on about how much Mark Knopfler hated it. I never found any confirmation of that. I suspect someone was just trying to reaffirm why they might not like the record.
Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
My favorite is Making Movies. For me the band's sound changed when Pick Withers quit after Movies. That being said, the Love Over Gold tour was good. After that, they got a bit sleepy for me.Kudzu Guillotine wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 9:33 amI love this album. Making Movies is also my favorite. I love them but I also started to lose interest after Making Movies. I don't dislike the albums that followed, I just tend to favor the previous ones the most. Favoring early works is pretty much the case with every artist I'm a fan of anyway.chuckrh wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 10:24 amMy favorite is Making Movies. Nice. I spun that one today as well. Picked up the reissue at the merch stand when I saw Chuck last week. A fine album.
Love each other, Motherfuckers!

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Great as always. Took the wife and a bunch of friends. Chuck is one of those shows that just about anyone will enjoy. He was in great spirits, the band was super tight. Sounds like he got the 'all-clear' from the big C diagnosis. Ended the show with my favorite closer, Willie Mays. The Mastersons were in the crowd as well...super cool.dime in the gutter wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 9:48 amcool......i blindly and quickly, stopped into my local record store yesterday, in between dropping off whiskey christmas cocktail happys to some friends. record store dude had the pink marble vinyl behind the counter waiting on me to stop in. surprise win on a great record.

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
The Big Star story is such a tragedy. This album for me is one of the greatest American rock records ever. It's so sad they got screwed by the music biz & it was a blip at the time. Alex Chilton & Chris Bell could've been the American Lennon & McCartney. So many great songs on this record. Radio City was great, too but it was a different band without Chris. To this day every time I hear the Ballad of El Goodo I get chills. RIP Alex & Chris.
