Been away from wifi for 5 days, so first listening. So sparse in spots, Yep, tones too. The blues influence talked about is limited, but some of what I love best about SV is bleeding through. Short running time, but I'll take it....Zip City wrote:3milelake wrote:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
Even though most everyone I grew up with had seen Nantucket (as well as their previous incarnation as Nantucket Sleighride) countless times at local clubs over the years, my first time seeing them was on a bill with Cheap Trick and AC/DC (with Bon Scott) at Cumberland County Memorial Arena in Fayetteville, NC in 1978. Nantucket had the middle slot as this was their big homecoming show after they'd been out touring in support of their debut record on Epic. "Let There Be Rock" by DBT's always reminds me of this bill and Almost Famous could have been based on Nantucket in so many ways. Several years back, I heard an interview with keyboardist/vocalist Mike Uzzell where he said Nantucket turned down an opportunity to open for the Stones at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh because someone in the band was getting married. Needless to say, if you have an opportunity to open for the Stones, you move the wedding to another day. For a period of 4-5 years there they always seemed to be on the verge of breaking through but it never happened. In addition to AC/DC, they toured with Kiss, Rush, Nugent, Aerosmith, etc. but that sort of breakthrough success always alluded them.Swamp wrote:Saw them once. They opened for AC/DC during thr Back in Black tour. Saw Mothers Finest once opened for Molly Hatchet during their Take No Prisoners tour. I have said this before, but growing up it seemed like the opening act for every show that came to the Asheville Civic Center (not that there were many shows) was either Nantucket or Mother's FinestSwamp wrote:Long Way To The Top - Nantucket

Pretty obsessed with the bookends for this one. "Alex Nieto" is now the best song about a guy getting wrongfully killed by a government actor in the past 12 months. Apologies to our boys.

I've listened to this half a dozen times but haven't had time to really absorb it yet. Is that the one with something about "...a 49ers fan..."? That's a good one.Iowan wrote:

You never know what you'll find in the bargain bin. I also stumbled upon some latter day Peter Tosh releases. Not necessarily my favorite stuff from him but at bargain bin prices they were impossible to resist.Bon Scott's AC/DC wrote:Studio 1, nice...Kudzu Guillotine wrote:
