For the evening commute
I found these in an old stack of CDs from high school/college the other day. Probably hadn't heard either in close to 10 years.
Stripper Rock, if there ever was such a thing. Cheese-tastic, idiotic lyrics, with huge rip-off hooks over the place. Totally forgettable, but pretty good background music for getting loaded with your buddies and cruising for chicks when you're 18-20.

Ha! Our April show in Dallas got cancelled & moved to Fort Worth because the venue dumped us for Buckcherry. So…they must still draw ok, at least in Dallas! I've only heard that one "I love the cocaine" song, and it wasn't really my thing.Iowan wrote:For the evening commute

The "cocaine" song is basically their sound in a nutshell. There's no depth, insight, or redeeming value. It's just dumb and fun.Blammo wrote:

I can't imagine I'd pay to see them live. You guys on the other hand...

Very weird to see that those videos got that reaction from you. They definitely put me in an unexpected frame of mind too.John A Arkansawyer wrote:The reason The Kinks are the greatest of all the British Invasion bands is two-fold: Their songs are timeless and they never ever made a bad record.beantownbubba wrote:IMHO "Come Dancing" is one of the most underrated songs in the history of songs. Part of it is the steel drums. While they work in the song just fine, they also undercut the lyrics. This is emphasized in the live version which seemed to be the only one to get radio airplay - it's too fast, the steel drums are too prominent and the whole thing is played as a trifle. But listening to these back to back, I'm reminded that "Don't Forget to Dance" should probably be on the same list. OTOH, as dime and cortez have made abundantly clear, the list of underrated songs could consist entirely of kinks songs.
I don't know about you folks, but watching those two videos in that order brought me to tears. There's no bullshit in there anywhere. It's just that same old story of the rag and bone shop of the human heart. This unbeliever says, "God Save The Kinks!"

From last night's Tosh.O, Iowan, your timing couldn't have been better. It is fun to play a few songs from buckcherry every once in a while. Pure rock out with your cock out music.
I'm only human, though I'm super at times.
