I just tried listening... It was too reminiscent of 60's pop for me, not that that's a bad thing, but I just got bored with it. So I changed it up:

Agreed. He's one of many greats I wouldn't have discovered but for this board. Others include McMurtry, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Bottle Rox, Kathleen Edwards, Todd Snider and more.

This is really starting to get under my skin. First few times I heard it I thought "c'mon Bob it's not 1985 anymore, or even 1991", but after a few more listens the band is cooking and the tunes are a great mix of everything he did best with Husker Du and Sugar. I never took to his solo stuff that well (Workbook was ok), Bob just works best in a 3 piece kick ass rock n roll band I guess.

Looks like he has a 7" single coming out on June 30 called "Gimme Something Good", at least according to this website. Also curious to know if you've heard this, his take on the Pointer Sisters' "Neutron Dance". Your mileage may vary but to my ears, it sounds pretty damn good.

DELUXE Edition, Disc 2 Barn's on Fire Sessions - definitely on the desert island shortlist. Love those songs.
Not forever, just for now.

I'm about to play this. The show just killed me and my date (date? Johnnie? Why, yes) was blown away, too. If she comes to your town or a town in your general area, go see her:

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
The bonus disc, a concert recorded at the Olympia in Paris in 1969 is a very worthy addition to Zep's official live output including BBC Sessions, How the West Was Won, Led Zeppelin DVD and The Song Remains the Same. I list The Song Remains the Same last as these other live offerings smash it like a grape even though it will always hold a special place for me as a live document of Led Zeppelin as well as a film. This Olympia concert is closer to the feel of the Royal Albert Hall concert from the Led Zeppelin DVD as they are just an unbridled force of nature here firing on all cylinders. A must. I would love to see Page unleash more of this kind of goodness from the vault.
