One might think this album (or Sean in general) would get more/better press simply because he's a Beatles legacy, but there seems to be no buzz.Zip City wrote:

beantownbubba, ive given this a few listens now. some great stuff on here (the first handful of songs esepcially) but man, feels like it could lose 20-30 minutes easily. its well written and well played but not a sound i can sit through for an hour at a time.
any of his other stuff worth checking out? i see it pretty often for a few bucks if so

Re: What's Everyone Listening to?
I happen to like the album all the way through but I cant argue w/ anyone who says the second half drags. OTOH, I'll definitely argue that the first 3 songs alone make it a great album and songs 4 - 8 back that up.Shakespeare wrote:

All his other albums have stuff worth hearing; I wouldn't call any of them great albums. Dime might possibly disagree, I'm not sure. Altered Beast and 100% Fun would be the next 2 I'd point you to, but you might just want to download "Sick of Myself" from 100% Fun and call it a day. Not that those albums (and others like Blue Sky on Mars) aren't worth hearing, but if Girlfriend doesn't do it for you I suspect the others won't either. "Sick of Myself" is a classic single.
Sweet has also done a series of albums w/ Susanna Hoffs (of the Bangles) called Under the Covers where they cover some of their favorite songs. Not essential but lots of fun - the songs are well chosen and the performances are good though short of revelatory.

Bruce Springsteen - The Promise - What a wonderful album. If i may do a non-comparison comparison a la our esteemed captain, it reminds me of The Basement Tapes w/out sounding anything like The Basement Tapes. Explaining that will require me to wax poetic which I'm not up to at the moment. If anybody cares, I'll try to get back to it.
