Utah will be represented once again.
Looking at this list and assuming most people are traveling with ~1-2 other people... If capacity is ~500, at least 20% of the people attending these shows are coming in from out of town? That's pretty impressive!
Gaetzi wrote:Looking at this list and assuming most people are traveling with ~1-2 other people
I wouldn't make that assumption. Just looking at that list, there are forty-five individuals, of whom I know at least eighteen are not bringing anyone who isn't already on the list. As I am one ignorant mofo, I wouldn't be surprised to find that was less than half of them.
So I'd cut that estimate in half and say ten to fifteen ('cause you never do know) percent.
The sooner we put those assholes in the grave&piss on the dirt above it, the better off we'll be
Also capacity is closer to 8-900 than 500. No worries, though, by the time we get to February, the out of town contingent will be of impressive size. DBT is a major contributor to the Athens economy.
But speaking of out of towners, is the transatlantic cable down? Things have been strangely quiet on the other side of the pond.
Yes, I know the transatlantic cable has been largely if not totally superseded by other comms. But it's a lot more romantic than a satellite, don't you think?

Saturday night will have close to 1,000 people there packed in assholes to belly buttons, but yes the overall 3DD/HeAthens community makes up a large percentage.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved
There are also quite a few fans who contribute and chime in more on the Facebook communities (DBT & DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS) than they do here. Some are members of 3DD as well, some aren't. If I had to guess from my experience the past few years at Homecoming, the online fan forums will be represented by 100 or so people...give or take a bakers dozen.

Just picked up my tickets for Friday night. Looking forward to a nice little Rex Manning day in Athens. I've been meaning to get over there and check out the Creature Comforts brewery, so this is as good a reason as any to do it!

I think if you include all 3 groups that number is closer to 200.

Arriving Tuesday just in case of the bloody Ice Age appearing again!

We've done the same, but arriving Monday. I'm hoping since we accounted for snow/ice/wind, none will be found and we can all enjoy some warm southern weather.
When the lights came up we all went home but never quite the same.

Really? You're probably right. I guess I should say I usually recognize and/or meet around 100 people in Athens I "know" from online...and of course you crazies that I see at every DBT show I go to lol

There were 57 on our list last year, not including significant others

Feb 13 - ???
Feb 14 - High Watt, Nashville TN
Feb 15 - Southgate House, Cincinnati, OH
more to come, haha
Any idea when Durham will go on sale? Two friends and I are planning to go to that show on the way to Athens.
Not sure. We're not even on the website of Motorco yet, so probably not for some time. I don't think you need to worry about a sellout though. (although i would love to be wrong on that)
It's now listed on Motorco's website and is going to be another "Guitartown Presents" event. For those that are unfamiliar with Guitartown, I've posted more about this show in the Lydia AOTW thread. If you're in the area and are a Lydia fan, please spread the word far and wide. Let's make this a sellout. Tix on sale here.

Thanks, Bill. Yep, I meant the Lydia AOTW thread. I just corrected it in my original post. If any of you are on FB, we'd love to welcome you to Guitartown. Same for followers on Twitter as well as the GT Yahoo Group (where it all started). We'll have a presence on No Depression again soon once they reactivate the Groups section of the website.

Craig was still front end manager at the 40 Watt, the first Homecoming I went to. On Saturday he sat down next to me on the pool table that used to sit off to the side of the stage. I asked him what Fire Marshall capacity was. He said around 500. I said, if you don't mind telling me, how many do you have in here tonight? He looked around for a second, making sure there was no "official" lurking, turned to me with that devilish grin of his and said about 850. One of my favorite Craig moments.

Nice. Our plan is to arrive Wednesday evening. As long as there aren't any traffic issues we should be in town early enough to make it to Flicker.
