I've said this already but it bears repeating...I would follow the Drive-By Truckers to the gates of Hell. That was the best show I've fucking seen in 25 years of going to shows. Mind officially blown! Special thanks to Jim of Jimandjewell of Three Dimes Down!

Small corection for the encore, the "improv" before marry me was actually patterson hood doing a cover of the song "Troglodyte (Cave Man)".

According to Worldwide Bill it was the first troglodyte since 2004.

Looks like everyone's having the best time, grateful to the tapers/streamers who've made it possible for those of us who couldn't make it this year.

Tracy overheard this last night in the bathroom from 2 women: "What do all those shirts mean?" "I don't know I Googled it but nothing came up".

Random thoughts from Night 2:
I've been to a decent number of DBT shows including 10 at the 40 Watt. Last night was the best I've been to. The mix of rare songs, stage energy, great crowd & friends...just the entire package. People were literally walking around in a daze after People Who Died. You heard these comments over & over "can you believe that", "how are they going to top that?" Etc. I've now been lucky enough to finally get One Of These Days and incredibly lucky to get my 2nd full band version of White Knuckle West Virginia

And yet you apparently still haven't made it to google. So essentially you don't exist. Just in case your shell was getting too swelled.

Clams yesterday morning over coffee: I keep waiting for people to get tired of the whole "I blame Clams" thing. Couldn't have asked for a better set up. Hilarious. Explained the shirt to some random stranger at Flikr and he says, well with a name like Clams he's clearly going to be at fault most of the time. He understood immediately. Thanks to our fearless leader jonicont for organizing everything.

Damn, what a show last night(stream). Envious of all of you there, sounds like the best time ever.. And glad the weather is holding out this year. Thankful for the stream bigtom! After years of blaming clams and did I not hear Patterson blame clams at a show a while back? I don't even know exactly what is all about. Awful nice of clams to be there for everyone to blame, bless his heart
ROCK ON!
ROCK ON!
I've seen my future and I'm scared to close my eyes
Re: Homecoming 2015: 2/12, 2/13, 2/14 @ The Fabulous 40 Watt
So as far as I recall, back in the early days of streaming, folks were sitting around listening and Clams popped up late on the board (maybe coming home from a poker game). "Hey guys, what did I miss"--and the stream dies and doesn't come back. "It's Clams fault". Don't remember who fist laid the blame (Bubba?) but we thank you

I remember the circumstances but honestly don't recall if it was me. But I'm more than happy to take credit for such a global, viral phenomenon. I'm pretty sure i did start the "It's Clams' fault that..." thread.

Very well played on the tshirt front! Check out the first result if you Google 'I blame Clams'.

Some back-story: someone mentioned, likely joking, that we should make shirts, and I know a shirt guy... PMs to Dean and John turned to an email thread which led to surreal discussions with the art guy about the need to use Clams actual' avatar photO on the shirt.
When it was all said and done, shirts got shipped to John in Athens and he created a distribution system.
I hadn't seen the actual shirts until yesterday and it all fell into place.
Being at the 40-Watt for such an epic show was extra special to share with the Mollusk Patrol. Kudos to Dean and John for their part!

Re: Homecoming 2015: 2/12, 2/13, 2/14 @ The Fabulous 40 Watt
I got there late--life has a way of presenting us with interesting choices--and walked in during Margo and Harold, whereupon I realized the difference--at least one difference--between Patterson and Cooley is that Cooley wouldn't write a character who would give a fuck what Harold knows.
As usual, people were nice to a late arrival. Just after I got on the left of the crowd, a fight thoughtfully broke out and, in the course of ineffectually helping to break it up, I ended up well inside the crowd, which I suppose proves it really is the thought that counts. (Or maybe I paid for it by hearing all about what started the fight. I was told some dickwad coldcocked someone else all through Space City.) Brownian motion moved me a little closer to the front when a girl kindly called her boyfriend an asshole and he, with equal courtesy, escorted her from the room. And then a nice older couple decided to call it quits.
Uncle Ricky was unsurprised to see me there just behind him. "I know you," he said. It's the kindness of strangers that's made me who I am today.
That was an exceptional performance, really loose (in mind) and tight (in body) at the same time. I mean, Troglodyte? Somehow, most of the time Matt's bass was super clear for me and I could hear some of the nuances in his playing that had escaped me before. Generally I don't care for picked bass. I just don't relate. I used a pick to play Whiskey Man only because I couldn't play it with my fingers. But there are points to using one which I don't always appreciate and Matt gave me a clinic last night. Made Up English Oceans, for instance. Which brings me to Cooley doubling down in his Electric Cock t-shirt. But I digress.
(True fact: I went home Tuesday night rather than attend a master class with Victor Wooten. In other news, I suck.)
I enjoyed the non-standard song placement, too. And somehow I knew, even before Patterson started to take off his guitar, Love Like This had to go to People Who Died. I'd had Jim Dickinson on my mind lately, and life decisions and interesting choices. Watch this space case.
Got there too late to get my shirt. Whether singular or plural, the blame for that is clear.
