Has http://oneofthesedays.org shuttered its operations? I used to go there to occasionally peruse old DBT setlists, but they had other good info on there too. But now, well, see for yourself. Does anyone know anything?

I was just there to check if DBT had played the HOB in Myrtle Beach before. I know I've used the site within the past few weeks. Hopefully it isn't gone for good.

I do have a backup of their database (but not images, etc) that I can look at doing something with, but it's from about 3 years ago.

I always just assumed that was maintained by someone here!

I'd pitch in $20 to help get it set up again or get the database in 3DD's hands- sure many others would as well. Wouldn't take many donors or a lot of $ to make that happen, right?

I just noticed that lost night, as well. I wanted to see the last time DBT played Runaway Train.
Damn! That was a great source of info! So....who WAS in charge of putting that site up originally?

I'm not sure if the person that runs it is a poster here but I have been contact with them before. I just wrote to see what's up with the website. I've always considered it an invaluable resource myself.

It still needs some cleanup, but I've imported the data dump, which actually dates a bit older than I thought...newest shows in are Feb 2010.

The shows are there though... e.g. http://www.26miledrive.com/song/532

If One of These Days is defunct hopefully the info can be sent to Tyler. The site has been valuable over the years. I couldn't have written the Brighter Than Creation's Dark article last summer without it.

I stay in contact periodically with the guy that started the site, Alec Reidl. He posts on here occasionally, I think his username is "areidl".

That's correct, I pinged him as well over email. Not too hard to find out who owns a particular URL.

The Wayback Machine is nice but I prefer an up to date One of These Days if at all possible.

That's what I'm trying to do. This closure has certainly kicked that into high gear. I'm hoping that by later tonight this will be the most complete DBT archive on the web.

The archival aspect is just a small part of what I turned to One of These Days for. They also had a complete discography including vinyl and CD singles, compilations, a timeline of the various line ups, etc. all very well laid out and easy to navigate. I hope they're not gone for good.

I've completed import of the OOTD dump from 2010, and everything public on Setlist.fm. I have over 1500 shows in the DB now. Now to re-sort everything into tours.

The info from oneofthesedays.org is very important to anyone writing a biography of the band. I nominate Tyler as the chief archivist and will contribute money towards keeping that info online and handy.

Absolutely essential site. If he needs help I hope he asks for it.

If Alec would give me clearance to republish his older material, I'd be happy to. That gets a little tricky, as that's original editorial work, and thus copyrighted, unlike the actual setlists which are facts, and thus not copyrightable, in the same way the phone company can't copyright the phone book.

The most essential part of oneofthesedays to me was the lyrics to most of the unreleased songs as well as the streaming option. It was the only place to find a lot of those songs.

So, after some cleanup everything is arranged into tours, more or less aligned with the albums in most cases. Once I had everything de-duplicated and cleaned up we have 953 unique shows that actual have setlists - the OOTD had lots of early shows with no setlsits which my code doesn't handle very well so I've had to filter those out for now.

I automatically split the tours into legs based on gaps of 14 days or longer inbetween shows, and this mostly seems to work ok.

I do think we need tour names for the 2012/2013 shows as they clearly aren't Go-Go Boots tour shows, but they weren't really named anything. Suggestions? (Edit: I'm tentatively named these 2012 tour and 2013 tour, creatively...)

The data gets better and better the later we get and is pretty solid from about 2006 on, although I'm sure there are some missing shows in there. 2004 and earlier is _very_ spotty.

It is neat to be able to look back at some of these tours from long ago...

Dirt Underneatth, for instance: (Edit: Thanks Smitty!) No link yet, and some of the dates are grouped wrong...but use the menu and poke around. I gotta go to bed.

I'm confused - the first leg of the Dirt Underneath tour started in April '07, not October. Am I looking at this right?

The opening TDU shows were 4-27/4-28/07. There was about 6 months worth of shows not listed.

http://airplanescreams.org/ still works, although it only goes to '07, so I bet oneofthesedays will be back. Maybe a relaunch?

It occurs to me someone in this thread might be able to give me advice on a related technical topic. Have any of you ever had to recover a weblog from archive.org? I allowed the shell account containing my weblog to expire without grabbing even a bad backup and now I miss it.
