The brand new Patterson song they busted out (recorded for the new album) was incredible. I think the title is "Paulina Hawkins" and it features, IMO, Jay Gonzalez's finest moment as a Trucker. Makes me wish he'd play standard keys more often.
Show opened with "Uncle Frank" and was very heavy on "the hits" so to speak. Nothing from GB and ABAAC that I can think off the top of my head, but every other album was represented. "Wild Horses" in the encore was amazing. I've long dreamed of them covering it (it's my favorite song of all time, and Mrs. Iowan walked down the aisle at our wedding to it), but always imagined Cooley on lead vocals. Patterson nailed it though.
Just a great night of rock and roll with a lot of great folks. I estimate about 50% of this board's membership was in attendance.

Pauline Hawkins. Yeah, it's a great one. Glad y'all got an awesome show! Now where is that setlist? UR, I'm looking at you man.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

Not in order, but the following were played: Uncle Frank (opener) Play It All Night Long (Zevon) DDN Marry Me Sounds Better in the Song (this was great with Matt) 3DD Zip City Where the Devil Don't Stay Tornadoes Company I Keep Guitar Man Upstairs UTBAC Birthday Boy Shut Up and Get on the Plane (closer) Pauline Hawkins Wild Horses (Rolling Stones)
I'll let someone else fill in the rest of the blanks and get things in order.
Really like this line up. I've never seen DBT so lean and muscular. Matt looks like a 12 year old who just saw his first set of tits up there. Irremovable shit-eating grin for the entire show. Gotta love it.

First time seeing them with Matt, and I couldn't believe how high he looked. <--This is exactly what he looked like.
Patterson broke his guitar headstock at the end of Shut up and get on the plane. It looked like he was trying to get the effect from bending the neck, and the headstock just snapped. Wasn't sure if he was pissed about it or not, but right after that he stood at the front of the stage, arms out, a la Titanic, and someone threw water/drink on him, and that seemed to piss him off. I don't know if they did it to cool him off or just out of pure asshattery.
Great fucking show though. I was happy as hell as I got to cross a few off my list (Sounds Better in the Song and Company I Keep). I listened to The Fine Print yesterday at work and thought how great it would be if they played Play It All Night Long, but figured they wouldn't being the cover and all. So happy they did.

SG's are notorious for this. Pretty straightforward fix from what my guitar player friends tell me. Breaking your instrument is Rock and Roll. Throwing shit at the stage is not.
While last night was the shortest rock show I've been to it may have been the most intense set list I've seen from top to bottom. And throw in the best version of Wild Horses I've seen (I've seen Mick, Keith and the boys do it 7 times), it made for an epic show. I got to meet Iowan, I would have liked to talked with him a bit more but all sorts of people I haven't seen since before I moved to Germany showed up. After watching Jay G. on guitar and keys I don't think they are missing Mr. Neff much if at all.
I'd also like to call out the douche nozzle that threw the beer on Patterson, well done asshole. This is why we can't have nice things.
What a show! The guys were on fire & seemed so happy. 3DD was out in full force. UR & I were surrounded on the rail with great peeps, including BoyYourself, Mr.B, LB Rod, Bill in CT, GW, Iowan & the Wisco boys. Such a good time. Plus our Red Sox won the World Series in the middle of the show. Pure joy all around!

It was great to meet & hang out with Iowan & Mrs Iowan before & during the show. Iowan was a good sport about my KU socks. Mrs Iowan works part-time at an IA brewery called Toppling Goliath and I got to try a great beer from there before the show at Lot One. I also enjoyed meeting Mr. B in Dubuque. It was a pleasure as always to see Uncle Rickey & Cooley Girl, GW in IA, LBRod, boyyourself, Whitney from KC, and the Wisconsin boys. My Rustie friend Paulina from Freeport, IL attended her first DBT show in Dubuque. She is now talking about coming to the next Homecoming so I think we have a new convert. While the show was shorter than usual, it was nonstop high energy from start to finish. The highlight of highlights was Wild Horses which I think was a DBT first.
The closer you get to the meaning
The sooner you'll know that you're dreaming

Bill, just so you know we have decided that Bill in CT no longer works for you since you're never there. In this house you are now referred to a Bill in USA. That is all.

Great albeit short show. Recording sounds great even though I was off center by the Matador. Hopefully I'll have it on the archive by tomorrow morning.
OBL- I apologize for calling you Cooley Girl after the show as I was feeling no pain at that point.
Really really bummed that no Chicago tapers turned out for Halloween.
for a few hours, I'm 19 years old and rock and roll is the only thing that matters.

I wasn't there but dug this video up on Youtube. You can't see the headstock snap but you can see the drink thrown by the coward. The guitar can be repaired. I know a guy, Greg Platzer from BCR Sound, that can fix guitars that can't be fixed!
