Re: The Joey Kneiser Thread

He and Kelly killed it when they came through a few months back.

Super underrated dude. I know I don't need to tell the good people at 3DD that.

This new album is awesome, psyched to get it on wax.

Re: It's Great to Be Alive! Release Date 10/30/2015

Count me among those who had NO IDEA this was a limited release. Off to order from the DBT store, I guess. This is easily one of my favorite albums of the year and I'll be listening to it for years, but since I now have the CD version AND a copy of This Weekend's The Night, I can safely say the, err...

Re: It's Great to Be Alive! Release Date 10/30/2015

So does anyone know when these will make it to stores? It's typical of my luck: I've pre-ordered the last few albums and been gravely disappointed each time. Had to see the albums in the record store knowing full well mine was floating around somewhere in the USPS, and after paying unreasonable ship...

OK, OK, you twisted my arm:

UTBAC
Uncle Frank
A Ghost To Most
The Righteous Path
Dead, Drunk, & Naked
Marry Me
Love Like This
The Company I Keep
Heathens
Pulaski

(The 50/50 split is pure coincidence)

Re: CMA Awards/ Chris Stapleton

It's funny how all it takes for someone to be considered "real" country these days is to sing about whiskey and dress like an extra from Sons of Anarchy No beef with Stapleton; he's a good performer and some of his songs are decent (he was also really nice when I met him), but let's get real, his so...

If anyone's interested in writing their own terrible piece on DBT, here are the puzzle pieces:, alt country (x4) debauchery (x2) "good ol boys" Lynyrd Skynyrd (x2) gothic novel a hell of a live show "catchy as hell" Muscle Shoals / David Hood dual guitar leads / attack (x4) Southern Rock (x3) "plain...

Great write up, btbubba. I think you nailed it.

And I agree with PeterG that you just made the wait for the vinyl seem a little longer. :D

Re: It's Great to Be Alive! Release Date 10/30/2015

I think yall are being a tad harsh on Shonna. "I'm Sorry Houston" was a good song, and most of the others she wrote are decent enough, and certainly none are embarrassing. I'll even take "I Hear You Hummin" over, oh, I dunno, "When The Well Runs Dry" or "Daylight." But that's just me. I also know fr...

from the forum over at jayfarrar.net: Packaging is minimal. No printed inner. No d/l card; no gatefold heavy card stock reissue here. The cover is matte not glossy. A few brief, random thoughts: --I really love the live arrangement of "Sounds Better In the Song" - difficult to improve on the recorded version but here we are. Ditto "The Righteous Path," one of my favorite DBT tunes, rendered here beautifully - I like the variation of the melody line, think it ad...

Re: Artist of the Week 12/19/10 & 7/11/11 (Son Volt/Jay Farr

Has anyone purchased the vinyl version of the Trace reissue? In a disturbing trend (Truckers, Son Volt, etc), albums I've been anticipating for months have been only available on CD thus far (delays, negligent record stores, etc), and, well, you guys know what it's like to be a fan. Of course I boug...

It'd be funny if all these records these kids never listen to had the wrong music on them. Like, you think you just bought that RSD copy of Deja Entendu , but it's actually some Liza Minelli album. Joke's on you, millennials! Of course, this raises issues about quality control and accountability. If...

Have never purchased / will never purchase an MP3. As Kudzu says, and I agree, an album is an immersive experience, and the MP3 is only finishing the job punk rock started in annihilating the sort of attention span that once upon a time actually allowed teenagers to listen to sidelong suites of musi...

Yeah, this has been going on forever. Exploiting kids who want to be 'famous' more than they want to be 'working musicians' is like shooting fish in a goddamn barrel, and now more than ever. If you know better (meaning, this ain't your first rodeo, your mom isn't driving you to the gig, etc) and you...
