Re: DBT Tracks - Week # 3 - Heathens
And if ya'll will indulge me a bit of personal experience... For most of my years as a minister I served in rural communities. I enjoyed the area but, as a minister, I was always sort of looked down on by the folks in the town. I never quite got why this was. I was raised in the 'burbs where educat...

I wish I knew all the words to "Superman" - I love the melody and feel of that song... Me too. I can't stop listening to it. I took a wild stab at the lyrics this morning: Ain’t no men of steel in this town Just 40 bottles and .38s Baby Jesus, if he’d come down ? Might as well sign me up ...

Re: We All Have Our Guilty Pleasures
I still like the first couple Counting Crows albums. I even listen to them. No, I'm not proud of it. Huh? If August and Everything After isn't a great album it's at least damn close. In a thread that features the likes of REO Speedwagon, Abba and the Captain & Tennile, you're not even in the ri...

Reaction to "The Secret to a Happy Ending" in Duluth
Had the pleasure of seeing TSTAHE at the Sound Unseen Film Festival in Duluth over the weekend, with Barr Weissmann in attendance. I won't talk about the specifics of the film too much since I know it's been discussed here and at 9B already, and some still haven't seen it (unless people want me to. ...

My two favs have already been posted ("I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" and "This Wheel's on Fire"). Bob Dylan's "Chronicles" is great. Can't wait for Vol. 2. "Shaky," the Neil Young bio, has been on my shelf for ages, but I haven't gotten around to reading it. "...

duke--which song? we have a lot in common...DBT are my favorite band after MMJ...we're switched... PS---the roots are remixing 'dear god' off Monsters of Folk for their new album.... There are actually two new songs, "Friends Again," and "Carried Away", which Carl sings. "F...

http://voreblog.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/evil-719179.jpg Just awful. And I thought these guys could do no wrong after It Still Moves - Z - Okonokos. Totally disagree. Josh Ritter - So Runs the World Away It's not a bad album, just a bit of a letdown. I consider Ritter's "The Animal Years" to be a perfect album, and the prerelease hype was touting "So Runs..." as a return to form, but I don't hear it. With "The Historical Conquests of...&q...

Re: However Long, Sunstroke & Good (where'd they go?)
"However Long" came up on shuffle last night. Great song, but lyrically it seems a little dated, with all the criticisms of the Bush administration. Maybe he's saving it up for when Palin takes office....(shudders). "Good," on the other hand...that's just a great song. No excuse...

Re: Will Somebody Please Explain Jimmy Buffet to Me?
I don't get it either. My friends who are into him tell me it's more about the party atmosphere of his shows than the music. Supposedly Kenny Chesney is positioning himself to be the "next" Buffet... Lots of songs about beaches, make every show feel like spring break in Cancun... lame.

Re: Favorite DBT record ???
This seems like as good a place as any to pop my first post cherry. 1) Decoration Day -- Just a perfect album. The only song that isn't a classic for me is "Your Daddy Hates Me," and even that one's not that bad. 2) The Dirty South -- If I made a list of my 20 favorite DBT songs, TDS might...
