Re: Circuital Pre-Order
Seems to me that most bands have a 1-3 album peak and it's just hard to maintain that. You're right though..that's exactly what I saw happen to PJ and I never understood their following for all these years. I would say that Pearl Jam had a 5-album peak to start their career (Ten-Vs-Vitalogy-No Code...

Re: Circuital Pre-Order
that is one of my biggest turnoffs of this album..what is up with the drum machine??? Patrick is a monsters and they are making this weirdo little sounds and effects and a drum machine? not sure how he can be happy about that.

Re: Circuital Pre-Order
MMJ is like DBT to me. I'm constructive as a novice of musicianship and artist intentions. I can't ever say it's bad because they've been so damn great. That was me until Evil Urges, but that album is just so freaking awful it boggles my mind. I can't even have a rational conversation about it. The...

Re: Hangout Music Festival
Sucks DBT only plays 75 min. Like Beale St. last year, I'd imagine this will be another great show but no happy ending!?! Thats usually when DBT hits their stride, it's like 1/2 a DBT show. welcome to one of the downsides of festivals. and who the hell booked Motörhead? i hope Lemmy wanders around ...

Re: Circuital Pre-Order
I really don't like bands doing fan clubs...i'd never join. It is basically just a way for them to make more $...and the benefits are never what they say.
and I agree...ugly ass album cover and kind of dumb album name.
I bet this album leaks this week.

ME up is ~200 and i would think TT's is about the same (though they can fit more people in the bar room/pool table room...so maybe 250/300?). you can't really call J a local band, can you? i never went much when it was Harpers but there was always plenty of room...i've been to BMH twice now, and J ...

Re: Jason Isbell MA Show
Going to another show that night...but it is only sold out because the venue..local bands sell this place out..if you show up you will probably find someone selling a ticket outside. what local bands sell out the room? it's probably 50% larger than TT's or the upstairs @ Middle East. TT and Middle ...

I was just about to post this. It's awesome, though it seems unlikely that Ryan would have waited until now to "discover" them You'd be surprised. Musicians, especially ones like Ryan are so caught up in their own music that they don't really know what is going on in current music. Plus h...

This is great. When I saw this post my thoughts immediately went to the negative so I was pleasantly surprised when I was wrong. Adam's is a great talent but his reputation (from I've seen personally, heard from others and read about) keeps me from enjoying his music most of the time. Nice to see t...

Nice post by Ryan on his Facebook Page about DBT... "fav song by my new fav band. 3 songwriters in DBT, each of them essential and total forces of nature. If you need a new passion dive in- I can't find a weak record in the lot. Happy Sat Nite." [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nvT...

Cracker and Camper are awesome and I love Those Darlins...Futurebirds are pretty blah in my opinion but other than that I like the bands. If they add some more good bands I wouldn't mind taking drive and checking this out.

Re: Why indie rock continues to ignore the Drive-By Truckers
Indie means independent. Simple as that. When Sonic Youth signed to a major label they were no longer indie. i would argue that...Geffen/DGC let them do the SYR records on the side, and i doubt that there was much if any meddling into the recordings they submitted for release. Well I was speaking t...

Re: Why indie rock continues to ignore the Drive-By Truckers
Maybe it's the other way around - the DBTs are really ignoring indie rock. i agree ...i don't want them to change, i'd love for them to financially prosper more and get the recognition they deserve, but to do that, they'd have to change. indie bands are flashes in the pan, in 3 years you won't hear...

Re: Why indie rock continues to ignore the Drive-By Truckers
I haven't read everything on this post but I will give my two cents back to the original topic. Why Indie rock continues to ignore the Drive-By Truckers? I think it is the Southern thing to a point. You can't read a review without Skynyrd being mentioned. That definitely hurts them. That being said ...

Another band Bow sits in with is Session Americana...amazing supergroup of musicians who do tradional covers, The Band, Dead and originals. They usually have a guest musician for the 2nd set and I caught Bow about a month ago. If you ever get a chance to see these guys do it. www.sessionamericana.co...

Re: Artist Of The Week 2.7.2011 Bow Thayer & Perfect Trainwr
I was really impressed that Bow was so generous with his time hanging out with all of us the other night. We shared roughly parallel recollections of Grateful Dead experiences - and, discussed our shared reverence for the late Jerry Garcia. He related to me also that he actually was in a more punk ...
