Re: I Hear You Hummin

Thanks for sharing that Uncle Frank. With my Deluxe download there are no liner notes.
I could listen to Shonna sing all night. Hope Jay 'the Saw' Gonzalez gets out his instrument
on tour. Could be a show stopper.

Re: Go-Go Boots Discussion Thread

One of the great things we all love about DBT is their intelligent use of words. Go-Go Boots doesn't let us down. In The Weakest Man, Cooley performs his usual magic trick of stuffing too many words in a line but at the same time manages to create a line with three words ending in -ing one after the...

Well said Bold99. I totally agree. The last thing we want is for DBT to go big on us !

Re: Thoughts on "Secret to a Happy Ending"

Space City has taken on a completely new fantastic dimension for me. Heart wrenching Cooley vocals and accoustic. But far from making me miss Jason, I think that the film finally and decisively lays to rest the ghost that has been haunting DBT. It's taken 4 years for everyone (including me) to get o...

Re: The Secret To A Happy Ending In England w/P Hood and Coo

Bodie, how funny. My first DBT gig was in Memphis, 2006 - the fateful A Blessing and a Curse tour. The following night Lucero were playing the same theatre. I'd never heard of them, but the local guy next to me recommended I should go. They blew me away and have been a fan ever since. Certainly did ...

Re: Go Go Boots Episodes 1

Don;t get me wrong not many better front men than Mick, except perhaps Rod Stewart in his Faces days.
The Faces recorded Maybe I'm Amazed and Nods as Good album the same year as Sticky Fingers, and were claiming the best rock n roll band in the world title until they self combusted. Glorious 1971.

Re: Go Go Boots Episodes 1

Gotta point about Mick's vocals. God love him. How anyone from South London can sing with a Muscle Shoals accent beats me. The other side of the story from a "fake British accent".

Re: Go Go Boots Episodes 1

hey Iowan, You Gotta Move is a classic Fred McDowell blues track with magic Mick Taylor slide guitar. A wonderful two and half minute punctuation mark at the end of side one Sticky Fingers. Mozart with drums.

Re: Go Go Boots Episodes 1

"She is such a great singer. They should have her sing more than a couple of songs." I am with the Rev on getting Shonna to sing more than her two songs. I love her smoky alto voice. More Houston type songs would certainly mix up the textures - live and recorded. Meanwhile back at Go-Go Bo...

Re: DBT Essay

Brilliant post Steve. I think we are all just soooo lucky to be witnessing such a great band at the height of its creative powers. A real-life working traveling down to earth reach out and touch them band. Not some dot on the horizon at a football stadium. Let's hope they keep on producing such wond...

Re: DBT Track of the Week #26? "The Deeper In"

<<Patterson Hood is a multi-dimensional song writer.>>

I am going to hear that sentence echoing forever before every Hood song now. Rev, you are a bit of a multi-dimensional
writer yourself. Respect.

Re: DBT Track Of The Week #28- "A World Of Hurt"

Well done NGB. It really is one of the greatest tracks. Played live at Brighton as an encore right after Carl Perkins, Neff's pedal steel was sending shivers down every spine. It built up slow and spooky then everyone yelled...IT's GREAT TO BE ALIVE ! It is living bubba proof that ABAAC is gonna com...

Re: ABAAC Theory

Y'all for what it's worth. Monday night, Brighton. Patterson sang World of Hurt as one of the encores in between Carl Perkins and Get Yer Ass on the Plane. I have never heard a more beautiful song, with Neff's pedal steel soaring like a bird. The songs on ABAAC are all gonna stand the test of time. ...

Re: Brighton, UK, 11/15/10

Hey guys, what an amazing show from our old friends on Monday. My ears and heart are still ringing and singing with lyrics and chunky cooley chords. Think they were inspired by the tight little stage and historic venue. Patterson said "What a cool lil place ... they bin keepin Brighton hid from...
