Re: Jason at Ram's Head Tavern - Annapolis MD 5-26-12

Yeah, great show. And as much as I love Jason at a rock show, his particular brand of singing and songwriting is especially suited for a solo gig like that.

Glad to see Warren Haynes represented here. The other day On YT, I came across him covering Leonard Cohen and Metallica. Talk about range and talent.

Re: Charlottesville Feb 3

Guess him playing Daisy Mae was wishful thinking. Aside from the throwaway chorus, I really like that song. For those who have seen him more often lately, is "Never Gonna Change" out of rotation? The extended version used to be a great closer.

I know he played In a Razor Town and Daisy Mae. Also, unless I missed it, nothing from the self-titled album.

Re: Charlottesville Feb 3

Great show. Jason is one of the few artists who sounds better live than in studio. My wife remarked how good his voice is, and it was on full display last night. I also thought the fiddle fit well with the direction his music is heading. This was the sixth time I've seen the 400 Unit, but first sinc...

If you replace the second "L" with an "E," it's phonetically correct, and people will read it as "Bullets" instead of "Bults."

Re: My Interview with Jason

Nice article. I don't follow Jason on Twitter, so it was nice to get a glimpse of him away from the music, so to speak. As a writer, I especially liked this: "I just try to keep writing songs for the same reason I started, which is to explain the way I feel about things and maybe try to connect...

They played it live at a small venue in Fayetteville, and it was the highlight of the show.

Am I the only one thoroughly unimpressed with the bonus tracks? The cover is meh and I Hear You Hummin' is awful Agreed. Meh is how I'd describe the whole album thus far. It's a decent album, but after listening to it a few times, I just started going back and listening to all the other stuff I thi...

I took it completely the other way - that alcohol was the only way he could deal with life, but in doing that, it just made life that much harder. As the "cure" of drink tends to do.

Re: dbt tracks # 22 - Outfit

I have a similar story with a mix CD made for me awhile back. I was a big fan of SRO and TDS, but hadn't heard much of DD. The CD included 14 songs. Outfit was No. 10 and Decoration Day was No. 14. I would put the CD on while driving every day for weeks. On many trips to work, I would switch back an...

Re: dbt tracks # 45 - DADDY NEEDS A DRINK

A great song to combo with Your Daddy Hates Me. There are certain lines in certain songs that grab you immediately the firt time you hear them. "to calm the badness, to execute the gladness" did that for me. A phrase that spoke to me given where I was at in life when I heard it. Of course,...

Re: ABAAC Theory

The band does seem to prefer slower openings. Or at least sparser songs. The obvious exception being the aforementioned WTDDS. On a related note, I always rank TDS ahead of DD, and a large part of that are the openers. The Deeper In is not a favorite, although it's better than the album's closer. [/...

Re: ABAAC Theory

Speaking of opening songs, the first thing I thought the first time I listened to GGB was, "I wish this thing opened with a better song." But with TDS being my introduction to the band, it's gonna be hard to top "Where the Devil Don't Stay" as an opener.

Re: ABAAC Theory

As far as what I've gravitated toward, Patterson's stuff has been hit and miss the last few albums. For my listening, almost all the filler on BTCD was his. But he saved the TBTD, IMO. That was his record. Now, for GGB, outside of Used to be a Cop (which is my favorite song), there's not a Patterson...

Re: ABAAC Theory

DD - flawless creative masterpiece (I even LOVE Your Daddy Hates Me) One of my favorite DBT tracks, and I wish they'd play it one of these days. For those of you who see lots of shows, is it ever in the rotation? I just love the guitar work on it and the opening verse is one of my favorites. I know...
