I guess I didn't literally mean NO other bar. I have just never been given a hard time anywhere else.

Re: Asheville, 8/17 & 8/18

Didn't they play "Shut up" and "3 dimes down"both nights? The weird alcohol rules they have at the peel confuse me. They have no liquor except in the basement but I doubt they would have stopped the band from drinking on stage. They also have that rule about serving you two beers...

Lol, I loved your story about the weekend. Question though, How did you get lost going from the Peel to the super 8? Was it the one of Tunnel road? YOu just have to go north toward downtown and turn right at the huge phallic monument, go through the roundabouts, down through the tunnel and right to ...

Re: Asheville, 8/17 & 8/18

I think Saturday night was better than friday night and other people I spoke too felt the same. The opener of Putting people on the moon friday night was incredible. You could truly feel how Patterson feels about Mitt Romney when he sang it. His comment about romney's taxes during sinkhole Saturday ...

Yeah they were great. The second night was better than the first night I think. I have never seen GG Allin before. Patterson's comment in the middle of Sinkhole about how he pays way more than 13% in taxes was classic. I saw a couple shows on the spring run and Cooley seemed really tired. He was muc...

Re: DBT Track #99-100 Easy On Yourself/Daylight

As usual my opInions seemed to be taken too seriously and personally. It was an off hand comment that wasn't meant to be gospel. If I offended anyone I apologize but I probably wasn't talking about you. I did like the band better with Isbell but I wouldn't trade Jay for anything. I also love Neff so...

A drink was thrown on stage during the outright to Angels and Fuselage. Everyone had left the stage except for EZB and it seemed to be a pretty full beer bottle that went under the drum riser. There were no trash cans in this place and only glass beer bottles. After the show there was broken glass e...

I am getting ready to head out for to find something to eat downtown and then on to the rock show.

Anyone recommend a good place nearby to eat that isn't crazy expensive?

I like both these songs, however, Daylight is pretty rough. I am a Huge I...

Re: God and the Alabama Shakes

There is a lot of hate for this band because they seemingly came out of nowhere and are super hyped and only have one single out. I totally agree in some ways. They are the most hyped indie band I have ever seen. They are also really good. This band will be huge, like white stripes huge. It's very r...

Re: Southern Rock Opera live thoughts

I don't even think it's their best album. Well, imho, it's easily their best album and I would love to see them play "Cassie's Brother" as it's one of my favorites, and many others from it that don't get played. I wish I was into them when they opened for Jerry Joseph (who is a friend of ...

Damn. Looks like I got one more show this year unless I make floydfest. I knew this had to happen sooner or later because they have been going full tilt since at least January 2010.

Now comes the silence and the waiting on a new Truckers record.

Re: Southern Rock Opera live thoughts

I think it would be awesome. And then no one would ever bring it up again. They could even print it on the ticket: this ticket entitles you to one evening of SRO performed in it's entirety and all memories of said event will be revoked and erased from your consciousness if you ever wonder out loud ...

Re: Southern Rock Opera live thoughts

Personally, I hope this never happens. It seems to be a rock band cliche to play albums "in their entirety" these days. They play the best songs off of it on a regular basis anyway. I don't even think it's their best album.

Does anyone know if the rest of the west coast run will be recorded? I love listening to these shows that I can't attend.

Re: Shonna playing 40 Watt in March

I think so too. I liked all of the new songs. However, I also like a lot of female soul and country singers so maybe its more up my alley. I think a lot of those songs were written in a very raw state and maybe, after she writes a few more, the more pointed ones won't make the final cut. Who know's,...

Coe will write any kind of song for money. He has said that many times. He wrote a lot of songs for other people. He wrote so many songs that when people go see him sometimes they think he performs covers.

This is why I find this whole conversation odd. A lot of people speak of Shonna's songs as if they are obviously bad. I disagree. I think she is a great songwriter. She is very different from hood and Cooley and Jason but different isn't bad, it's just different. If I had to venture a guess, which i...

I could not agree more. I do not agree with the demonization of the vietnam veterans.
