Word From The Hood…

DBT, Patterson Hood April 5th, 2011

A new update from Patterson came out today including news of an additional full band show in honor of Record Store Day at Plan 9 in Charlottesville. Also word on the twitter is that tickets for the shows at Buster’s in Lexington are close to selling out so act fast on those if you haven’t already. Check out today’s update from the man right here:

Y’ALL:

Enjoyed some much needed time at home. Had a great birthday (Thanks to those who sent out wishes for such) and of course can’t get enough of them kids. However, today finds me packing for the next leg (is this 2 or 3?) of our Go-Go Boots World Onslaught.

This next leg takes us through the southeast (with perhaps a touch of midwest thrown in). We will be blessed to have Dylan LeBlanc opening all of the shows. If you haven’t heard his album yet, do yourself a favor and check it out. Mr. LeBlanc lived in my hometown (Muscle Shoals) and made his album at FAME as well as at Jimmy Nutt’s Nuthouse there. Ironically I don’t think we ever met. Nonetheless his album (Pauper’s Field) was in my Top 5 last year and is a stunningly beautiful album. I can’t wait to finally see him live. For our finale, in beautiful Charlottesville VA we will also be joined by our dear friends and fellow Athens based road warriors The Whigs. We all know what an amazing show they put on so it’s a DON’T MISS!!! We will also be doing a special in store performance at Plan 9 Records in Charlottesville VA on Saturday April 16 in honor of Record Store Day! This will be a full band acoustic performance and will start at 2pm.

Finally I want to thank everyone again for all your support this year. Go-Go Boots is so far online to possibly become our best selling album yet and the shows have almost all been SELL OUTS. (Our sell out ratio has been higher this year than any year in our fifteen year history). Our single “Everybody Needs Love” has gotten more radio airplay than any song we’ve ever released and 2011 is off to a great start to be our most successful year yet. THANKS!!!

Turn it up, keep it between the ditches and See You at The Revival.

PS:
Ever so often I send out a list of cool shit I have been enjoying.
I’m not a critic, but I am a huge fan and I buy a lot of records and books (and see a lot of movies).
I always enjoy it when folks turn me on to new things and I like to pass it along:

Dylan LeBlanc – Pauper’s Field (A great debut album by this month’s supporting act. DON’T MISS)

Mike Watt and the Missing Men (Saw them at The 40 Watt last weekend and it’s an amazing show. Great to hear those Minutemen songs played live again after all these years.)

Kurt Vile – Smoke Rings For My Halo (This is going to be the one to beat for my favorite album of the year. FANTASTIC)
